Preheat your oven to thermostat 6 (180°C).

Take a bit of butter and grease a loaf pan.

Whip the remaining butter and both sugars until the mixture becomes firm and foamy.

Add the eggs one at a time, but wait for the mixture to become smooth again before adding the next one.

Next, fold in the flour and baking powder sifted together, without overworking the batter.

The batter should be very smooth and creamy.

Divide the batter into two portions, add the sifted cocoa to one of the halves and mix carefully.

Using two spoons, fill the pan alternately with both batters and partially cover the chocolate batter with the plain batter.

Slide the pan into the oven and bake for 50 minutes.

The cake will be done when a toothpick inserted comes out clean and dry.

Unmold the cake onto a wire rack.

Let it cool slightly.

Melt the coating chocolate with 2 tablespoons of water.

Spread it in a thick and even layer over the cake.

Allow to dry and harden.

Serve the marbled cake when it is completely cooled.
