Melt the chocolate without stirring, then incorporate the butter.

Work the egg yolks with sugar until the mixture becomes pale and frothy, add the melted chocolate to the mixture followed by a pinch of salt, almond powder, and finally the sifted flour.

Gently fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites and pour the batter into a greased and aluminum foil-lined baking dish, filling it only three-quarters full.

Bake for approximately 50 minutes in an oven preheated to medium heat. Check the doneness with a knife blade that should come out dry.

Unmold and let cool on a wire rack.

Sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds.
