    Wash the plums.

    Depending on taste, you can either leave them whole: in this case, stab each fruit about ten times up to the pit, or cut them in half and remove the pits.

    Boil water, sugar, and vanilla (split the pod).

    If the fruits are left whole, simmer for 10 minutes.

    If they are halved, just let them heat up for two or three boils.

    Remove the pot from the heat.
