After washing them, cut the turnips, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, and carrots into pieces. Sauté the vegetables in a Dutch oven with a bit of oil (except for the potatoes) until they soften. Add some ground cloves, garlic, white beans, and olives. Add enough water to cover everything and simmer on low heat for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Add the potatoes during the last 30 minutes.
