Almond Sand Cookies
Prepare delicious crunchy heart-shaped shortbreads for Valentine's Day.

In a mixing bowl, beat the whole egg with the sugar and salt until you get a clear and slightly frothy mixture.

Add the sifted flour in one go, then knead the dough by hand until it becomes sandy.

Then add the cold butter in small pieces as well as the ground hazelnuts, and knead by hand to form a ball of dough.

Roll out the dough on a slightly floured flat surface, then cut the biscuits using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

Place the biscuits on a greased baking sheet, and bake in a preheated oven (160°C) for 10 to 15 minutes.

The biscuits will turn a light color and slightly brown; leave them in the oven a few more minutes if needed.

Let the biscuits cool on a sheet of aluminum foil to harden.
