Country-style cocotte egg
This cocotte egg will surprise your taste buds with its slight smoked flavor!

Peel the onions and then finely slice them. Sauté the onions in butter on a low heat in a pan, until they start to become translucent, then add the lardons and cook for only 5 minutes, just to sauté them gently.

Grind pepper over them, and if possible with peppercorns (they are sold in stores: 5 peppercorns).

Transfer this preparation into a gratin dish or egg dish.

Cover with thick cream, then add two eggs on top being careful not to break them.

Bake in a water bath, preheated for 5 minutes at thermostat 6, for 10 to 15 minutes. When you see that the whites are cooked, remove them immediately, otherwise, the yolk will cook very quickly.

Serve as an appetizer or main course, accompanied by fresh bread.
